4 Day Mount Meru Trekking

A  4-day Mount Meru trek itinerary is done inside Arusha National Park. This itinerary will take you through Ngare Nanyuki River, Maiondio waterfalls, and Fig Tree Arch. Our hike will start at Momella gate heading to Mirakamba hut, Saddle hut, Kibo hut, and finally to the summit of Mt. Meru. On top of the mountain, you will see different animal biodiversity and outstanding natural features. Also, will experience the beautiful landscapes and vegetation as you hike your way to the top and so much more.

Day 0:(Arrival)

Arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO). You will meet with our representative, followed by a transfer to the hotel. You’re advised to settle in and take time to relax and to get used to the African atmosphere. Dinner and overnight stay at Kibo Palace Hotel or similar

Day 1: Momella gate – Mirakamba hut (2,500 m)

<p>Early in the morning, after breakfast (08:00 am), our guide will pick you up and then drive to Arusha National Park. Upon your arrival at the main gate, official documents will be handed out, and begin our hike to Mirakamba Hut. The hike takes 4-6 hours from the gate. The trail will lead you through the Ngare Nanyuki River, the small Maio Falls, an ideal place for your picnic lunch. After you have relaxed a bit, your hike continues to the “Arched Fig Tree” – a unique tree that spans the way like a gate, and finally arrives at Miriakamba Hut for Dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2: Mirakamba hut – Saddle hut (3,500 m)

After breakfast, from Mirakamba Huts, we will ascend through the forest to the Saddle hut. The hike will take 3-4 hrs, and along the way, you will reach the viewpoint of Mngongo wa Tembo (Elephant Ridge) for a picnic lunch break. After a short Lunch break, the trek continues to the Saddle Hut. The higher you go, the landscape changes from mountain rainforest to light bushland. Dinner and overnight stay will be at Saddle Hut. feel free hiking to Little Mt. Meru (3820 m) with your guide for further acclimatization.

Day 3: Saddle hut – Socialist Peak (4,566 m) – Mirakamaba hut

<p>After taking a small snack and a hot drink around 12:00 midnight, your way to the summit will start at 01:30 am. During the hike, you will come across the bushland, making the path more challenging. The hike will take you to Rhino Point, then to Cobra Point (4350 m), from here onwards it is only a few steps ahead to the summit ‘’Socialist Peak’’ (4,566 m). Upon arrival on the top of the Mountain, you will enjoy the beautiful sunrise with spectacular views of Mt. Meru Ash, Mt. Kilimanjaro, Momella lakes, and other outstanding natural features found in Arusha National Park. Afterwards, you will descend to Saddle Hut for a short break, then to Mirakamba Hut for dinner and overnight stay. 

DAY 4: Mirakamba hut to Momella Gate

<p>On this last day, you will descend from Mirakamba hut to Momella gate via the Northern route. The hike is approximately 3 to 4 hours. After the descent, the whole group will come together to congratulate for the achievement. From here, our representative will pick you up and transfer you to the Airport. Making the end of our 4-day Mount Meru trekking.
